Food and cancer... Foods that increase the risk of developing cancerous tumors.. Beware of them
Numerous medical researches have confirmed the existence of a strong relationship between food and the incidence of various cancers, which are the most common cancerous tumors, such as breast, lung, stomach, colon, liver, pharynx, and prostate cancer.
The Ministry of Health and Population launched the first phase of the President's initiative for the early detection of cancerous tumors (lung, prostate, colon, and cervix) for free, under the slogan "100 Million Health".
And the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that the first phase of the initiative’s work includes 9 governorates (Alexandria, Beheira, Matrouh, Damietta, Qalyubia, Fayoum, Assiut, South Sinai, and Port Said), explaining that work on the initiative will be launched in all governorates of the Republic, respectively.
The initiative to detect cancerous tumors targets citizens aged 18 years and over, with the aim of detecting the disease in its early stages, and thus reducing deaths resulting from it, and reducing the financial burden in late cases.
In the following lines, we review the relationship of food to cancerous tumors in the lung, prostate and colon:
Food and lung cancer
Some medical research has ruled out a relationship between food and lung cancer, but what is certain is its association with smoking.
Medical research indicated that there is a relationship between the incidence of lung cancer and the lack of intake of vegetables rich in carotene or the increase in fat.
Food and prostate cancer
Prostate cancer affects men as they age, and it has a close relationship between the increased consumption of fats in meat, milk and dairy products, and vegetable oils, which lead to an increase in estrogen and sex hormones.
Medical research stressed the need to eat more food rich in vitamin A and beta-carotene, which prevents prostate cancer.
Food and colon cancer
There is a strong relationship between excessive intake of animal fats, which causes increased bile secretion, which is transformed by intestinal bacteria into a carcinogen, and foods that are poor in their content of dietary fiber.
And doctors advised the need to eat green vegetables constantly, because it contributes to reducing the incidence of colon cancer.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health announced how citizens can obtain the services of the Early Detection of Cancer Tumors initiative, as it begins with the citizen going to the health unit, and filling out an electronic questionnaire, which includes a number of questions about the pathological symptoms of all tumors included in the initiative, and through the result of the questionnaire, the target disease is known. disclose it to the public.
And with knowledge of the disease targeted to be detected in the citizen, he is transferred to the hospitals operating within the initiative, to conduct the necessary x-rays and laboratory tests, and in the case of a negative examination, the citizen is informed of the periodic follow-up of his health condition according to the type of tumor targeted for detection, but in the case of positive tests, the patient is presented to a committee Multidisciplinary to make the necessary treatment decision.
She emphasized that work on the initiative and referral of patients is done through an electronic system linking health units, medical convoys and hospitals, to the electronic system of the questionnaire, to facilitate citizens'
